Charles Dickens’ masterfully crafted Christmas fable tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a man with wealth to match the coldness of his heart. On a mystical Christmas Eve, a visitation with spirits forces Scrooge to make a choice: change, or perish.

Customer Reviews

Cheeky, cheerful, and aged well – everyone should read this at least once!

So, I should have probably tried to get this review published in December when I read this book but time has a way of running away from me at times. So happy belated Christmas first of all! Now, obviously Dickens A Christmas Carol is a classic and doesn’t need my two-penny worth to be so but I just wanted to put this review on here anyway to encourage all those who haven’t read it to do so.

A great pleasure to read an original

A beautiful book that after years of wanting to read has finally been achieved. It was most enjoyed and brought back many childhood memories of the story being told. A classic that warms the heart when read. Pleasure to read.

This timeless classic must be the most easily read and popular of Dickens’ novels. I doubt if there is anyone who has not read or watched some version of this novel. I would recommend it to both young and old.

A book very worth reading and as good if not better than I had hoped

The first time I have read it – though I know it well from TV and films. A book very worth reading and as good if not better than I had hoped. Short enough to read comfortably in a day, but powerful enough to leave a lasting impression. A good balance of pathos and humour with an aptly moral message, very suitable for Christmas. I strongly recommend this book if you have never read it before.

I really enjoyed this great Dickens novel. Read this on a Mediterranean cruise last year and it still made me feel festive, even sitting in the baking sun in shorts and T shirt I felt the Christmas spirit, the cold of the snow and the crunch of snow under foot.

A lovely story

I may have read this many times before but it never fails to disappoint and with each reading I pick up another detail or little tidbit that just adds to the story, the change in Scrooge’s character and the overall enjoyment of the story. While we are all immensely familiar with the basics of the story, it is in the details that Dickens’ story really comes to life and we really see Scrooge for the man he was, the man he is and the man he becomes.
