’BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is both unsettling and addictive, as I raced through the pages to find out Grace’s fate. A chilling thriller that will keep you reading long into the night.’
–Mary Kubica, bestselling author of The Good Girl

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do.
You’d like to get to know Grace better.
But it’s difficult, because you realise Jack and Grace are never apart.
Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. Or how she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows.
Sometimes, the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.

‘Behind Closed Doors gives us a glimpse into the realities of a ‘perfect marriage’, with addictive and heart pounding moments guaranteed to have you looking at your friends and neighbours differently.’
-Margaret Madden, Bleach House Library

Wonderfully menacing!

Wow… that’s all I can say… Wow. This book had me mesmerised from the start. The sense of menace built and built, and by the time I was 60% of the way though I simply couldn’t put it down. It’s so skilfully written that the situation described seems horribly believable. And the ending… well, like I said, wow! As a psychotherapist and writer myself I am fascinated by the deep and intricate workings of the troubled mind… especially when it comes to that most dreaded of modern beasts, the urban psychopath. Kudos to this author for producing in me the sweaty palms and thumping heart that only such a story can evoke. I see B.A. Paris has written another book so when my pulse has stopped racing I’m off to get it! ’

Chilling tale of a perfect couple

A chilling tale that will send ice through your veins.

Worth reading, but slightly predictable…

I thought the book was well written and it had me hooked. I wanted to keep reading on, chapter after chapter, so that’s a good thing, right? It is written both past and present, alternating between each chapter. Around three quarters of the way through, I found the book too predictable, and was really waiting for a huge twist at the end that never came… well worth a read if you like a thriller., just lacked a better ending.

Chillingly addictive!

Grace and Jack are recently married and to everyone looking in, they appear to have the perfect relationship. Jack is loving and attentive, and Grace the perfect hostess. But who really knows what goes on behind those closed doors? Well, partway through I wasn’t sure I actually wanted to know anymore! Not because I wasn’t enjoying it, as it’s a superior thriller that kept me enthralled; I was just so full of trepidation I wasn’t sure I could carry on reading, my poor little heart was taking such a pounding! I’m so glad I never chose to read it at night or I don’t think I’d have slept! Jack was an awesomely dark and evil character and I loved the way the story played out, you just never knew which way things were going to go and which character would come out on top.

Intense read

Behind Closed Doors is exactly as its title suggests. On the outside Jack and Grace appear to be the perfect couple with the perfect life but what goes on “Behind Closed Doors” is a very different story. This book is so intense I had to take breaks from it to get me through it, it’s a good, gripping story however the end was a bit quick for me. I would’ve liked to have read a little about Grace the survivor. Due to the content and intensity of the book I wouldn’t recommend to victims of D.V as even I found it disturbing and a little difficult to handle at times.

Still all in all I would recommend this as one to try

This book grew on me quickly. It made me turn the pages, often reading for longer than intended. The use of the past and present worked. The only reason that this book didn’t get 5 stars is that the end, unfortunately, let’s it down. It was almost as if the B A Paris was uncertain how to bring the story to a conclusion while maintaining the suspense that the rest of the book had. Still all in all I would recommend this as one to try.

Generally good. I think it would have been better to start the book in the past as once you start reading in the present and then jump back and forth, it becomes easy to see how Jack was which takes some of the “thrill” out of this thriller. Personally, maybe because I read a lot of books, I partially foresaw the ending which was a shame.
