Susan Lewis at her Best

 on 7 September 2016
By Carol Drinkwater
Read nearly all Susan’s books and apart from a couple have enjoyed them all but this is one of my absolute favourites. It is a real page turner, full of twists and turns and I couldn’t put it down.

A very moving story with lots of other thing happening at the same time. Life is so unpredictable and one should trust one’s instincts. Good read.

A fantastic book as ever by Susan Lewis. Her books just keep getting better and better. There are plenty of twists and turns in Behind Closed Doors, hooking you in and making you want to read more. I managed to read this book in little over 24 hours!

Fourteen year old Sophie Monroe has gone missing following a row with her parents and DS Andrea Lawrence must lead the case investigating her vanishing, despite the fact that it has rekindled the most traumatic events ever to happen to her own family, events that have haunted them all and never been far from their minds. Her sister Penny went missing 20 years ago, and the family never knew her fate. Is Andee going to be able to investigate this new disappearance objectively, or is she going to be too close emotionally?

Another great book from a fab author

Good Solid Detective Story

14 year old Sophie Monroe goes missing from her home on the edge of a holiday camp. There had been a family row so no one takes her disappearance very seriously to begin with. Detective Sergeant Andee Lawrence takes over the case and starts to demand answers. Suddenly things become more complex than they seemed with many people having a great deal to hide.

This is really a novel about people and relationships but it is set around the investigation into the disappearance of Sophie from the holiday camp where she lived with her father, stepmother and new brother. The investigating officer, Andee, is also troubled by the memories that this stirs up in her because her sister also disappeared as a teenager and has never been traced. The crime element of this book is well done but it is in the description of people and their relationships and reactions that the book really earns its five stars.
