Welcome back to Mount Polbearne! The new book from Top Ten bestseller Jenny Colgan is full of festive joy, warmth and the best hot chocolate you can imagine…

It's Christmas in the Cornish coastal village of Mount Polbearne – a time for family, friends and feasting.

Polly Waterford loves running the Little Beach Street Bakery. She's at her happiest when she's creating delicious treats and the festive season always inspires her to bake and knead something extra special for the village residents. In fact, the only thing she loves more than her bakery is curling up with her gorgeous boyfriend, Huckle. She's determined that this Christmas is going to be their best one yet, but life doesn't always work out as planned…

When Polly's best friend Kerensa turns up with a secret that threatens the life Polly and Huckle have built together, the future begins to look uncertain. And then a face from Polly's past reappears and things become even more complicated. Polly can usually find solace in baking but she has a feeling that's not going to be enough this time. Can she get things back on track so that everyone has a merry Christmas?

Beach Street Bakery Christmas

 on 22 March 2017
By Charley Greywolf
I fell in love with the Beach Street Bakery the moment I opened the first book so to go back for more is fantastic. We fall back in to Polly life at Christmas, best time of the year. Polly wants a quiet Christmas but of course nothing ever works out as planned.

A Must Read

I believe this is the third book in the series but I have somehow missed the other two, but it didn’t really matter. I soon caught up with all the regular characters and really loved the book, as I do most set in Cornwall. Mount Polbearne is a fictitious place but could have been based on St Michaels Mount, one of my favourite places so it was probably going to be a hit with me regardless, but I loved Polly and her pet Puffin, Neil, instantly and was gripped by the story. Christmas stories are usually good but this would make a good summer holiday read as well.

Great escape

Being of Cornish descent and a fan of cake and reading this really is the next best thing to therapy. Just when I needed distracting from the problems of life that sometimes decide to all pile up together I am offered this book. I managed to make it last for two whole days by rationing myself to just a few chapters at a time and I am now sad it’s over. I may just have to buy all of Jenny’s books until my minor crisis is over. Thank you Jenny for this reading equivalent of respite care.

Enjoyable

Not sure if Jenny Colgan shouldn’t have left this trilogy as a two-parter, but it was an enjoyable read with a satisfying ending (although I don’t understand why she needs to use such obscure names).

Just what a needed to read!

Returning to one of my favourite characters for a Christmas special has lifted my spirits. Such fun to return to Mount Polberne and catch up with Polly and pals but especially Neil the lovable puffin. Can’t wait to find out what happens next….!

I so loved this book. Such a nice story and easy to read. I only wish I had read the first two books about Polly and her life before I read this one. Will be reading more by this author.

Thoroughly enjoyable, I loved being able to return to Polly et al and find out more of what happens to them. Jenny Colgan writes beautifully so you can just immerse yourself in the story.
