Introduction
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” – Albert Einstein

His image is iconic. His face appears on posters and tee shirts, coffee mugs and calendars, album covers, web pages, and bobble heads. His appearance — the frazzled hair, rumpled trousers and old sweater, coupled with a heavy German accent — is the quintessential image of mad scientists and absent-minded professors. He was, wrote a journalist for Time magazine, a “cartoonists dream.” So famous was his appearance that, during his lifetime, total strangers would approach him on the street and ask him to explain his famous theory of relativity. “Oh no,” he would declaim in his heavily accented English, “Always I am mistaken for Professor Einstein,” no doubt leaving his questioner more mystified than before…

I’ve always been intrigued by Einstein and I found the book to be easy to read and very informative. I do understand why a lot of people are not overly impressed with it as it maybe doesn’t delve as deep into the story as it could, however if, like me, you didn’t really know all that much about Einstein to begin with then it is worth reading.

Informative, easy to read book but not well chronologically structured

I enjoyed reading this book. I have always admired Einstein but never knew much about his life. The book presents life facts in a systematic, matter-of-fact way, giving a valuable insight into how a genius was born, lived and died. After the chronological part of the book focusing on his life, there follow sections on certain aspects of his personality (celebrity status, religious outlook, views on war and peace) that felt a bit random but were still informative and fascinating to study.

Albert Einstein is one of, if not the, most influential scientists to have existed. He was more than just a scientist as he was an adviser, theologian and renound scholar. For one human to possess such foresight and depth of understanding of science is remarkable and this book serves very well to remind us of just how influential Einstein was.

Brilliant!
