Following their collaboration in SPLIT SECOND, ex-Secret Service agents Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have gone into partnership and are investigating the robbery of some secret documents at the residence of the incredibly wealthy Battle family. It seems like a straightforward case of domestic burglary, but soon they begin to suspect links to larger, more terrifying events now shaking the prosperous town of Writghtsburg . . . The unidentified corpse of an attractive young woman turns up in the woods; two high school kids, one shot in the back, the other in the face, are found dead in their car; a successful lawyer is discovered stabbed to death in her own home. A serial killer is on the loose. The murderer kills in the manner of famous killers of the past but takes care to leave a stopped watch at the scene of each crime – corresponding to the victim’s position on his hit list. As the killing spree escalates it seems that the fractured Battle family are somehow involved and Maxwell and King suddenly find themselves racing to solve an intricate puzzle, one that is full of tantalizing clues but barren of solid evidence, and one that is leaving even the FBI confounded. And all the while, the body count is rising . . .

Hour Game

Hour Game a Gripping Story

 on 1 April 2018
By Kindle Customer
Gripping, Clever and Enthralling storytelling from this master of criminal mystery writing. His short staccato chapters keep the reader continually page turning to reveal what will be next in the development of the story. DB although seemingly spreading his genre of writing across a good number of leading characters in his many books surprises the reader with the odd, perhaps slightly unbelievable twists to stories but so far he has certainly not failed me in giving many hours of good entertainment and enjoyable reading.

Serial killer shenanigans in the south.

The second King and Maxwell book stuffs a whole lot of Southern intrigue and serial killer japes between its covers and stretches credulity to the max. I’m sure David Baldacci put in the bit about two bullets colliding in mid air as part of a bet because its entirely irrelevant to the plot.

Complicated!

I would rate David Badacci’s books among my top five. He writes fast-paced,crime novels in a league of his own. King and Maxwell series as well as other great reads. And I thought that most Southern Genteels had disappeared, I suppose this family almost has. I recommend these books to any thriller/crime book lovers.

Loved this book. It was well written and easy to follow with likeable lead characters and nice short chapters so you can pick it up and put it down at your own convenience.

A classic Baldacci

 on 27 September 2011

Hour Game finds David Baldacci in his groove. It’s a classic serial killer thriller, but unlike his other novels which can seem to have a rushed ending, this one goes through two cycles of conclusion. Baldacci’s style of extensive characterisation and using strange character names can be slightly jarring at times, but this is a great read, even if it is, overall, slightly clichéd.
