A funny, festive short story from bestseller Fiona Gibson. Just the thing to curl up with on a cold winter night.

Christmas in the country. What could be better? All you need is one country house, one gorgeous boyfriend and a liberal dusting of snow. Right?

That’s what Anna thinks and she can’t wait for the festivities to start. But then she meets her gorgeous boyfriend’s awful parents. And their drunk friends. And she starts to hear all about a certain ex-wife. Suddenly this doesn’t look like a very merry Christmas after all…

Christmas doesn’t always go to plan, and Fiona tells it like it is. The perfect festive read for fans of ‘Outnumbered’ and Fern Britton.

Meeting the in-laws for the very first time is scary enough. But as Anna arrives at her in-laws’ country mansion not only does she find herself out of her depth, she experiences a very different side to her boyfriend

A Nice Little Short Story

Given this is a short story, I found the characters to be well drawn and I really got into the story, albeit that it took be about half an hour to read!

A great short story

This is a lovely short story with great characters. It’s a bit like panto where you have the lovely Cinderella, in this case it’s Anna. Anna is going to meet her in laws for the first time and spend Christmas with them, and her boyfriends daughter. His family appear to be alot richer and well to do than she is, and from the outset it is clear that the mother is going to be the panto baddie. She frowns upon Anna and makes her disdain clear.

Only wish it was longer!!

I have only read one of Fiona Gibson’s books before but I thoroughly enjoyed it and was eager to read this short story as I love the title! It didn’t disappoint and I virtually read it in one go! The only thing I would say about the story (even though it is a short story) is that I would have liked it to be a little bit longer! I feel this could turn into a full length book as the characters are really good. Very enjoyable short story to sit and read with a cuppa!

Mushy, but it’s Christmas….

Not the sort of book I usually read, but its seasonality grabbed me (as also did the then-free price). Never having read Fiona Gibson before, I like her writing style. The story concerns ordinary-girl-Anna’s Christmas visit to her upper-class boyfriend’s snooty parents, and the way she deals with the developing situation. Surprise ending (or maybe not so surprising). A good festive read which shouldn’t take longer than an hour.

A Good Festive Read.

I thought this was a good festive book that was easy to read with the main character Anna being very likeable and understandable.

Loved this short story and it really got me in the Christmas spirit. With the gorgeous descriptions of the area and the big house of Anna’s future in-laws. The story also had me giggling at the in-laws, and we have all had them, the ones who think their son isn’t right for us… or we just not good enough. But Anna is made of stronger stuff and has the last laugh.
