It took me by surprise!

I have never been one to read self help books and picked this one up out of curiosity but with also a little wariness. I thought I might pick up a technique or two for dealing with worry… What a surprise! This book not only gave me techniques, it challenged views I held, reminded me of things forgotten or taken for granted and helped me get some perspective. The problem with worry is that it often makes you feel alone. This book reminded me that I’m not the one to worry! Stupid but true. The anecdotes were brilliant and inspirational. I learnt a lot and can’t praise this book enough.

Take the best bits from it

I did enjoy reading this book. Whenever I picked it up, it felt like picking up a hot water bottle, comforting. There are certainly some annoying bits due to when it was written eg telling men to leave a monthly pension for their widows and not a lump sum because being women they will just spend it ! I just tried to take the good bits on board of which there are many. I will read it again just so that everything sinks in. I bought the kindle edition which is full of typos so not very good but it was cheap.

It helps you think that life there is more to life than just worrying about silly things. The way in which each example is written it makes you feel that a friend is giving you an advised and not a book.

Got it for my partner as he’s doing a Dale Carnegie course for his company. He thinks it’s too slow, but I personally liked it when I read it 20 years ago & thinks it’s a must read for all people. Ebook version is reasonably priced so 5 stars.

I looked for motivational books and heard about this one. Not recent at all but so practical! I’m giving only 4 stars because the style is a little bit difficult to read but it deserves five in terms of quality.
