A good read.

This was a very good read and the Venetian setting made it even more so. If you like a mystery, this one was very interesting and the conclusion was good. It wasn’t an overnighter for me. I had to pick it up several times, but otherwise I feel it was worth it.

very exicting read

Jane Aiken Hodge at her best she manages to bring her story to life by making us care what happens to her heroine. A very exciting read especially toward the end

A good mystery

I love Jane Aiken Hodge’s classic regency novels and so I decided to give this one a try, although it is more suspense fiction and was ‘modern’ romance when it was first published (in the 70’s). The main pull for this particular book of hers is probably the setting. She captures Venice wonderfully, with the drama unfolding on a backdrop of dark alleys, winding waterways and fantastic architecture. This is a good mystery and I enjoyed the reveal at the end. I still prefer her regencies but this one is worth a read too.
