Ambitious geneticist Geoffrey Bartell is fighting for his life. His company is under legal and political attack while his marriage crumbles around him. Desperate to recapture his once idyllic life he comes upon the perfect solution by creating a clone of himself, and together they set about picking up the pieces.

But the perfection is short-lived as the two’s priorities begin to diverge. As the jealousies and resentments build Bartell comes to realize that while living alone was difficult, living as two may be impossible. Things take a dark turn and before long Bartell finds himself at the center of a criminal murder trial in which he now must fight to salvage what life he can.

"Dark and edgy. The mystery and intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down." -ML

This is a great tale, superbly written and with a twist which – while I spotted mid-way through – still satisfied greatly. I urge you to read this novella.

THE COPY is the story of Bartell’s strange experiment: He cloned himself to increase his output, and at first all is well. Bartell is able to do twice the amount of work and sleep more. Eventually, things go awry. His clone is more than he bargained for. He is not simply a robot who takes orders and does what he’s told. The clone develops his own thoughts and emotions, and when these escalate, Bartell knows his experiment is out of his control.

A perfect blend of law and science that gripped me.

Geoffrey Bartell is a successful geneticist currently undergoing legal, political and familial problems in this fast-paced novella. Yearning a peaceful life, Geoffrey decides the way to regain balance is to clone himself so he can take care of business as well as his home life but when his clone, Jeff, has ideas different to his own, Geoffrey soon learns he made a big mistake.

A brilliant read!!!

Forget the ethics or the morality…..a real snapshot of the reality of living with dual identical personage. Fantastic and unprecedented legal ramifications. An element of rewriting/rewinding oneself. A real “do over”. Great.

a Very entertaining read

I loved this book. The concept, the writing, the pace. all very entertaining. my only complaint? it ended too quickly – I mean that the ending, for me,. was a bit abrupt and also it was so good and raced along, it was actually too short. but a very good read.

Suspense but only just
