A great book. I completed a BSc in Sports Science several years ago, but I am only recently working in the industry. This book is informative and comprehensive. Be prepared for details, diagrams and technical terms; it is the complete antithesis of the celebrity work-out programs so popular over the last few years. The book ties in nicely with current industry standards and has a series of example questions and answers after each section. It’s well written so despite the in-depth information it is easy to read. If you are or want to work as fitness instructor or have a serious interest in fitness this is a must.

A great handbook

I’m studying for my level 2 and 3 at college and this book is extremely comprehensive and easy to digest. Once I finish the course it will make an excellent reference guide. Well worth a purchase for your fitness library.

This book is excellent, you get all the information you will ever need about anatomy and physiology, as a fitness instructor. It is written and laid out in an easy to understand format and does not baffle the reader with scientific terminology that you do not need to know. Highly recommended for people in the fitness industry, as well as those wishing to join.

A wise investment for fitness students

This book was recommended to me by a friend when I did a Studio Instructor course in February as a general guide to the theory side of the fitness industry. I have just completed a Personal Trainer course as well and find I have referred to this book time and again throught each module of the course.

Well layed out and clear book

A clear and typical text book, I am soon to be completing a REPS level 2 Gym instructing course and this has helped immensely in preparing for it. Remember to make notes and apply the ideas to your own experience with exercise as it is can be very bland with explanations (which it needs to be to deliver the purest facts), although it does have plenty of well detailed diagrams that help a lot in understanding the topics.

Ok, so i needed it but. . .

Its great. I got this for University as the the author is also my tutor!!! It does however do exactly what I need which is explain everything in simple but detailed terms. It covers all sorts of exercise including anatomy and physiology along with quizzes to test your knowledge and understanding and is approved for REPS qualifications. Hope I get the next edition free for this plug ha ha but really it is an excellent book.
