I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I bought this book. I succumbed to the hype and I have to say that I am not disappointed. It wasn’t what I expected, which was the the usual shirts plastered in a book just for posterity’s sake. This book took a different approach which I really liked. By linking the culture of shirt collecting to various strands of popular culture like music and the design aesthetics of the time was a new and innovative approach to this topic as was the link to politics. Rarely have I have thought about football shirts in this context and apart from it being thought provoking it was refreshing to see the subject tackled in this way. Loved the Roma and Spurs tops but that’s just my thing! Very highly recommended.

Excellent artwork and very interesting comment. This book works on all levels – it is a must for football lovers; informative for social historians; and a good ‘coffee-table’ browsing book.
