Transform your home into a permanently clear and clutter-free space with the incredible KonMari Method. Japan's expert declutterer and professional cleaner Marie Kondo will help you tidy your rooms once and for all with her inspirational step-by-step method.

The key to successful tidying is to tackle your home in the correct order, to keep only the things you really love and to do it all at once – and quickly. After that for the rest of your life you only need to choose what to keep and what to discard.

The KonMari Method will not just transform your space. Once you have your house in order you will find that your whole life will change. You can feel more confident, you can become more successful, and you can have the energy and motivation to create the life you want. You will also have the courage to move on from the negative aspects of your life: you can recognise and finish a bad relationship; you can stop feeling anxious; you can finally lose weight.

Marie Kondo's method is based on a 'once-cleaned, never-messy-again' approach. If you think that such a thing is impossible then you should definitely read this compelling book.

This isn’t just decluttering and tidying, it’s bigger than that.

Finding “the one” is a search we make in many areas of our lives. As a serial clutterbug, I have been trying over the years to find a method of decluttering which speaks to me, and works for me.

Love this book. Idea of getting everything of one ‘type’ together (eg get ALL clothes together and sort them) rather than room by room makes complete sense to me, have so far only done my clothes, but it was very therapeutic! (In the past I would have done a few drawers of clothes one day, then few weeks later maybe done wardrobe, few months later coats or whatever- but when I actually got all of them in one place I was horrified by the ridiculous amount I had and it really made me get rid of what I didn’t need). I love her enthusiasm and her respect for her belongings. I’m pretty conventional generally and wouldn’t be someone who would talk to her possessions, but I still found this approach refreshing and inspiring.

Love this book, still reading it. It’s helped me think more about how I view my things and what’s actually important.

I rated this book as a five star based on the ease of reading and of putting the concepts into practice. It takes a lot of time to actually put your home in order but it is time well spent. I started reading the book in the middle of a major clutter. I had already had feelings of needing to shed a lot of stuff, I have some major changes up ahead a new job and new academic course which is certainly going to stretch me personally. Without a lot of conscious effort I was watching a YouTube video on decluttering on moment next I was going through my cupboards discarding items left right and centre in the middle of the night. Time and time again the women in the video referenced the konmari method and this book. So I reluctantly purchased the book on kindle and I wish that I had gotten a hold of it sooner. The writing style is so much better than the over marketed self help guides that strangle the area. It’s like a conversation with a dear friend that gets you and as a consequence you feel understood and the words and message from Ms Kondo address the issues that have you chained to stuff you don’t like. To share with you something from my own experience is that I found that most items that didn’t spark joy, sparked nothing at all. Some items actually made me feel bad, and worse yet others tugged at quite ugly emotions such as greed. No I’m not rich but sometimes the only need I had for an item was to own it and the reason not to pass it on was the feeling of wanting to own it even if I got no joy from it. I can now let it go.

Arrived quickly and well packaged. I am a convert! Was a bit dubious at first, but it had rave reviews so gave it a go and was not disappointed. The book is an easy read and truthfully I could not put it down. The things said are obvious really but you have to think about it. Nothing is required other than to read and absorb. No extra boxes or massive throw outs demanded. At your own pace with your own choices. The book is complete and the author’s life’s work. It makes sense and gives you back HOPE. This is from a woman who having condensed 4 houses into one and lives like she is in Steptoe’s yard. I feel I can now do it. If you understand anything of what I have written ,you must now buy this book for yourself, if you really mean business and it will not disappoint.

What a great read. Really motivated me to put my house in order. Now I can find scissors, string, matches…etc. Everything has a place, and what I dont need or like has gone to the charity shop.

Brought this after seeing it posted on a friends facebook and reading the reviews on here. It didn’t take too long to read the whole book took me less than a day and it isn’t condescending like some of the other books I’ve read on decluttering and tidying. This book really makes you want to get on and do things I cleared five bin bags out of my front room the day after finishing this book it was all stuff I had been holding onto just in case and it makes you realise that you really don’t need them. I’m now working my way through the other rooms in my house and it really does make you feel so much better. I’ve always been a bit of a packrat so have storage boxes stacked everywhere all neatly hidden away but I couldn’t tell you what was in half of them if I even tried so I’m now throwing donating and selling after reading this book and my house is feeling all the better for it. If your on the fence about this book I would say buy it what have you got to lose it doesn’t cost a fortune and since reading this I’ve actually made nearly £100 selling bits that I no longer wanted.

Sounds so inconsequential but this book totally changed how I store clothes: the single biggest source of mess in my home. I have been abiding by the rules for over a year and it has made my home so much tidier which makes me less stressed!
