This book is a humorous account, an autobiography, of my twenty three year career as an owner driver between the mid-seventies and the nineties. It is a sequence of events with characters who have wandered into my life to make it a memorable adventure. It commenced when I found a derelict truck, complete with birds’ nests, in a scrap yard and ended, under challenging circumstances compounded by VOSA. It includes a compilation of short stories, a written portrait of spilled secrets and recollections capturing moments in time. The latter were usually legal, sometimes dubious but on hind sight, often funny.
The content consists of situations that should captivate and astound people, both in and out of the industry and much of it will ring bells of familiarity with ‘old timers’.

This guy takes the biscuit, if you ever thought it only happened to you then Chris is every one of us. A fantastic read capturing the everyday life of the trucker. Determined not to be beaten when most would have headed to the pub never to re-emerge Chris battles on against all odds. Heartwarming nostalgic inspiring and most of all hilarious, this book will give you the incentive to put your problems in context and dust yourself down, if nothing else you will close the book laughing every time. Well done on an excellent story well written and highly enjoyable. I wish there was a sequel, or even a documentary. That would be a right entertaining production. Top marks Chris and keep on trucking.

This is a superb book that I could not put down. It is both informative and comical. I would recommend it to anyone, not just people involved in the transport industry. I have downloaded it to my Kindle and I must say that it was a bargain purchase.

Couldn’t put it down! A swashbuckler of the road getting in and out of scrapes. Funny, thoughtful and easy to read I would recommend this to anyone, not just ‘truckers’ and fans of lorries! If you want inspiration to never give up and to keep smiling then this is a must read!
