DETECTIVE NIKKI GALENA’S DYING FATHER HAS ONE FINAL REQUEST: “FIND EVE.”

DI Nikki Galena faces a personal challenge which will stretch her to the limit. She must fulfil her father’s dying wish and discover who the mysterious Eve is. Meanwhile a dead drug dealer is found on an abandoned airfield that the locals say is haunted. The trail of both mysteries will lead to the most shocking discovery of Nikki’s career and put her whole team in mortal danger.

Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you turning the pages until the shocking ending.

THE DETECTIVE DI Nikki Galena: A police detective with nothing left to lose, she’s seen a girl die in her arms and her own family destroyed. She’s tough on the criminals who she thinks did this to her.

HER PARTNER DS Joseph Easter is the squeaky-clean new member of the team. But his nickname “Holy Joe” belies his former life as a soldier. He has an estranged daughter who blames him for everything that went wrong with their family.

THE SETTING The Lincolnshire Fens: great open skies brood over marshes, farmland, and nature reserves. It is not easy terrain for the Fenland Constabulary to police, due to the distances between some of the remote Fen villages, the dangerous and often misty lanes, and the poor telephone coverage. There are still villages where the oldest residents have never set foot outside their own farmland and a visit to the nearest town is a major event. But it has a strange airy beauty to it, and above it all are the biggest skies you’ve ever seen.

No hesitation a soaring five star knock out.

Wow! What a truly gripping read. Joy Ellis has fast become one of my favourite crime novelists. The sub plot running through this series is absolutely intriguing both from the perspective the reader gains of the nature of crimes this team has to tackle and the way they work and play together. Additionally, there is a spark of romance bubbling away. I feel that this series would adapt fabulously to television. Killer on the Fens in particular, with several of those, hairs on the back of the neck, standing up, moments for the reader, would knock the socks off many rival dramas!

Thank goodness that I gave this book a try

I had a great time reading this gripping book – way out of my usual genre and so glad that I wandered off the path. The story is action packed, twisting, turning and still with a surprise left for the end. There is some bad language but unlike some books, it is NOT used to pack out a thin story, but used sparingly and in context.

I’m a little bit obsessed with the characters!

I have really really loved this series of books, one more to go and I will be hugely sad when that’s finished! Although stories are theatrical I love the interplay of the characters and their lives! Would recommend – just make sure you start with book one!

Highly addictive.

Trouble with this series of books is that they are so addictive. Read one and half in a day. Well written, the characters, the twisting plots make them hard to put down. I read a lot of detective fiction but this book starts with such s sense of intriguing foreboding which draws you into a world of mystery.

A super story well told. I love detective stories in which seemingly apparently unconnected strands are woven together to form a fascinating whole story. This book does just that and in the final chapter yields a very unexpected and delightful twist.

My goodness, what can I say. I started off with the first free book and as soon as I had finished purchased the 2nd, then the 3rd and then this 4th one. Wonderful, fantastic, awesome, brilliant. All 4 books were thrilling to read and I am now going to purchase more from this author. I am a tightfisted Scot and usually only get free books lol, very seldom do I buy the next in the series but I had to buy these. Get them all you won’t be disappointed.

I’m enjoying this series of books, with plots that are easy to follow and characters that are becoming very familiar. The only real drawback is the constant explaining of past events so that the story is a stand alone book.

Brilliant.

Gosh did I enjoy this instalment of DI Galena and DS Easter. Whilst the crime was perhaps ( hopefully) a little unreal, the whole thing was put together wonderfully.
