But then her husband unexpectedly leaves her for another woman and takes the children. Now she must ask the question: what is left in her life? Can Rosie find the strength to rebuild herself? More importantly, does she even want to?

Couldn’t put it down

 on 29 December 2016

This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I couldn’t put it down. Between work and Christmas preparations it was finished within three days and I was completely captured by its story. Rosie, a mother and wife who thought life was sorted for her but it was turned upside down when her husband left. It portrayed the battle she had with becoming a single mother and doing what she felt was right for her children.

A story that I loved, with a perfect ending.

I’d been wanting to read this one for a while and then it was briefly reduced to 99p so of course…..and its a great read. A story that I loved, with a perfect ending.

What can I say? I have found a new author to read and my TBR pile has just got bigger. I downloaded this book on the recommendation of #TBConFB and am I glad I did. A story that a lot of women can relate to either personally or through someone they know. At first I saw some of me in Rosie, mum of two, slightly overweight and juggling life, but that’s where the similarities stopped. At times I found it hard to like her, however, the fact that events in the story made me cry made me realise that actually she is a likeable character and I found myself hoping for that happy ending that she so desperately wanted and needed. Phil, on the other hand, I could of happily slapped, sorry. An emotional story that you can relate to. Worth a read.

An emotional roller-coaster

Amazing Amanda Prowse

I read this book in 48 hours which is unheard of for me and especially at the moment when I’m up to my eyeballs in building work – but Amanda Prowse gave me the escape I needed and so for two days I lived in Woolcombe and Rosie was (is) my new best friend!!

A marriage in ruins; a happy solution.

When you live vicariously, mainly recognising yourself as someone’s child, someone’s parent, or someone’s sibling, it can obscure the person you are, so that when Rosie, after years of being Phil’s wife and Naomi and Leona’s mum, suddenly found herself having to forge a new identity, she floundered unbearably, and didn’t know how to cope.

I wait patiently for all Amanda Prowse books coming out, and hitting my kindle, and once again, I wasn’t disappointed.

Great book, couldn’t put it down!

Well where do I start, I will start by saying I really struggled to put this book down, it engrossed me from the minute I picked it up and even when I really had to put it down I could not wait to get back to it.

Shame about the ending

What is it about an author when they write a brilliant book? Do they run out of time or ideas. Here we are again, another Captain Corelli’s Mandoline. Brilliant book, Catherine Cookson ending. I loved the characters in this book, the children were so real and funny. The wonderful wife and her in-laws, real people, a real story. Husband weak and easily led deserved he he got. But the end was rushed, and while I think the ending could have happened, it would not have happened the way it did. Not that quickly. Amanda, make your publishers give you more time, I really felt you rushed it.
