The Fashion Police was runner-up in the Chapter One Promotions Novel Competition 2010 and nominated Best Novel with Romantic Elements 2010 by The Romance Reviews. It is a screwball comedy-mystery, combining murder and mayhem with romance and chick-lit.

Amber Fox has been making too many mistakes lately and something's got to give…

For starters, Amber accidentally shoots Chief Inspector Janice Skipper and gets thrown off the police force. The only one who knows the truth about the incident is Amber, but no one will believe her.

After accepting a job as an insurance investigator from her ex-fiancé, Brad Beckett, it turns out that Brad thinks they've still got unfinished business and the job description includes sexual favours that come with a price.

When fashion designer, Umberto Fandango, goes missing, Amber becomes embroiled in a complicated case. But Amber's arch-enemy, Chief Inspector Skipper, is also investigating his disappearance, and it's a race against time for Amber to solve the mystery before Skipper does and get her old job back. And just when Amber thinks things can't get any worse, she's being stalked by some crazy mobsters.

Who is Umberto Fandango? Is he dead? And can Amber stay one step ahead and stay alive?

Loved it! Much better than Gemma Halliday!!

I wanted to read this series after seeing it described as being similar to Gemma Halliday’s ‘High Heel Mystery’ series. I’ve only just discovered the chick lit/murder mystery genre and I am now a big fan. I read Gemma Halliday’s entire series really quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it so I was a bit worried that I’d be disappointed with ‘The Fashion Police’ and that I’d see it as a weak immitation. Well I am pleased to say this book far surpasses the High Heel Mystery series in my opinion. Yes there are several similarities between the heroines in each series, but Amber Fox is just fabulous and this book was brilliant. It was fun, sassy, fast paced and laugh out loud funny in so many places. Plus, the mystery element was really well written with several twists and turns so the reader didn’t guess the ultimate conclusion until it was revealed, which cannot be said for the High Heel Mystery series. I can’t wait to read the sequel (Be Careful What You Wish For (Amber Fox Mystery)) and I hope to see many more in this series- long live Amber Fox!!

Funny funny funny!

This is the first of the Amber Fox ‘chick-lit’ mystery series.

I read these out of order but as it happens each of them can be read as stand-alone stories. This is a very funny book. Amber Fox has been thrown out of the police force and is now working for her ex-fiancées insurance company. There are four cases to be sorted out, one of which involves a high profile fashion designer. All the cases end up being linked in ways you would never imagine. Amber seems to lurch from misadventure to comic misadventure, somehow maintaining dignity and sanity. She is chased by the mob and is in love with two men. Whoever said life was easy?

I found this very funny. There were some laugh out loud moments. I implore anyone reading this to have some tissues handy, you will need them after laughing so hard!

A witty, fun romp. Amber Fox is a sassy, sexy heroine that will keep you entertained.

Meet Amber Fox, Miss Hot Stuff Investigator. Lately things have been on a bit of a down-turn for her. After shooting a fellow police officer in the rear, Amber was thrown off the force. She insists that the woman had it coming, and funnily enough, she did. Not one to stay down for long, Amber gets a job with her ex-fiance, Brad, as an insurance investigator.

Her current squeeze, Romeo, isn’t too thrilled with that. He’s pretty sure Brad still has a thing for Amber, and he’s not far off. Amber isn’t real sure how she feels about Brad, either. She’s still attracted to him, but she’s been with Romeo for a year, and they’ve got a great relationship. Plus, Brad up and left her for three months with not a word about where he was going or anything else. Understandably, Amber’s unsure whether or not she could trust him, even if she did want to try again.

Shortly after Amber takes the job, things start happening at a dizzying rate. One of Hi-Tec Insurance’s clients, Umbarto Fandango mysteriously goes missing. Amber is in the process of investigating his disappearance and also trying to resolve two other cases, all while being chased by the mob and trying to live through her own accident-prone mishaps. As if that weren’t enough, her nemesis from the police department is also working on the case. Amber’s in a race to solve the case first – winner take all.

Amber is a lot of fun. A well-rounded character, she’s got plenty of quirks that make her interesting, including a sweet tooth of epic proportions. Supporting characters are also well done, even down to the two mobsters. The plot is fast moving with a lot of twists and turns and kept me guessing in some areas, though I did put together a couple of things before Amber did. One issue I had with The Fashion Police was that in the review copy I received there were a fair amount of typographical and grammatical errors. I hope that these were addressed in the official release of the book. I also wished that the relationship quandary had been resolved a bit better.

I had a lot of fun reading The Fashion Police. It’s a fun romp with lots of humor and lots of action. Amber is a sassy, sweet heroine who manages to be feminine but still tough. I definitely am looking forward to future books in the series.

Quirky and funny, another must read from Sibel Hodge. Like other books before this I only put it down once and did not want it to finish.

I started this book this morning and have not long finished it. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
I adore Stephanie Plum and this did have a similar feel, although Stephanie is now getting tired, so long live Amber Fox. I am really looking forward to reading more Amber Fox Murder Mysteries.

This book is very cleverly written – A up to the minute, down to earth mystery comedy that contains an awful lot of humour. Amber narrates the story very well, providing a nice take on words.
The main plot involves a missing fashion designer but there are many subplots that skillfully intertwine that the book kept me guessing the whole way through.

I’m quite a fan of chick lit, this being the first I’ve read by Sibel Hodge and I can honestly say that I’m dying to read more….

Excellent comedy/mystery

I was looking for a fun mystery and The Fashion Police was a perfect fit. Amber Fox is funny, but not to the point where it’s slapstick, and she’s stuck with a job she didn’t quite want after being forced to leave the police force. She’s bright, capable, and a good investigator, so when a straight-up insurance query ends up with murder and mob mayhem, Amber ends up in the thick of it, backed up by two yummy guys – her policeman boyfriend, Romeo, and her boss/ex-SAS/ex-fiance, Brad.
It’s fast, it’s funny, and Amber is a great character. I picked up the sequel straight after this one. The cover doesn’t do the book justice but that hardly matters when you’re stuck in!

Fabulous Fun!
