Transform your home into a permanently clear and clutter-free space with the incredible KonMari Method. Japan's expert declutterer and professional cleaner Marie Kondo will help you tidy your rooms once and for all with her inspirational step-by-step method.

The key to successful tidying is to tackle your home in the correct order, to keep only the things you really love and to do it all at once – and quickly. After that for the rest of your life you only need to choose what to keep and what to discard.

The KonMari Method will not just transform your space. Once you have your house in order you will find that your whole life will change. You can feel more confident, you can become more successful, and you can have the energy and motivation to create the life you want. You will also have the courage to move on from the negative aspects of your life: you can recognise and finish a bad relationship; you can stop feeling anxious; you can finally lose weight.

Marie Kondo's method is based on a 'once-cleaned, never-messy-again' approach. If you think that such a thing is impossible then you should definitely read this compelling book.

Great book! Give it a go!

I was sceptical as I aim for tidiness but never quite achieve it. I guess I was looking for some order in my house and consequently, my head! I saw the reviews on here and on a whim I bought the book.

A book to keep

You should take these books for what they are – glimmers of hope that there’s an easy solution to radically improving your life (there isn’t). This is from the same genre as fad diets and the Millionaire Next Door route to riches. However, at least it’s a different topic. And as it’s a New Year, what better time to feel the therapeutic benefits of going through absolutely everything you have, acknowledging that most of it you don’t use or need anymore, and feeling much “cleaner” and ready for the world when you throw it all away. “It’s a new you” etc etc. I am extremely skeptical that any of it will last, but at least there’s the high of having done it. Folding all your remaining clothes away into neat little piles feels both great and OCD’ish. Odds of doing it next time the washing needs putting away and I’m too damn busy or tired…..low. However, who knows, maybe this fad really will work.

And it felt like she spoke to me

I am a very tidy person who is always afraid of cluttering her life. Before I set off on a house emptying spree I read and took notes from this book. I went through the house and book category by category. And it felt like she spoke to me. It was great to have direction to help clear out. Some instructions I adapted, especially about electronics and cables as they are a bigger part of my life than in hers, but the general knowledge was there to help adapt following her approach.

My Nemesis no more

The life changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo superb concept. I was gripped by what she had to say. We all keep hold of items we do not need or require because we attach feelings to them and ultimately build up junk or buy 2 or 3 of the same thing. I love my now uniformed, clear wardrobe and draws and I can easily see each item. I won’t say it wasn’t hard but once you get going it is liberating freeing yourself of the items of clothing which are 2 sizes too small, in my case they have gone to the charity shop and move on to each item in turn books, pots and pans etc… My Nemesis no more…

) I love love love this book

This book is definitely worth rating and writing a review (something I rarely bother to do!) I love love love this book! It sounds evangelical to say it is life changing but it is – once you start the process of decluttering and actually organising things / folding your clothes property (in a way I have never seen done before / would never have thought of, but actually works! – I can properly see all of my clothes now and picking outfits is a joy!) The ever so slight spiritual angle may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you don’t like it you can easily skip over it and still put into practise the de-clutter / tidy aspects – personally I quite like thanking the items I am throwing away – particularly if I’ve been hanging onto things for a long time out of sheer guilt of throwing gifts or brand new unwanted things out – just say thanks & into the charity bag! This book is probably going to be purchased numerous times for stocking fillers for Christmas this year – you’re welcome, I just changed your life 😉

It was an enjoyable read, and it really did get me in the mood for having a go at transforming the house.

A great little book. A lot of is common sense, and most of it very obvious. However, it was an enjoyable read, and it really did get me in the mood for having a go at transforming the house. I agree with a lot of what she says. I would have liked more info on the clothes folding – I intend to explore youtube for videos on the subject, as I find it hard to follow written instructions for things like that. I only paid a fraction of the retail price (about the cost of a magazine) so I felt it was well worth the money, and I enjoyed reading it.
